Effectively Managing the Toxic, Protected & High Maintenance Employees

As the doctrine of "at will" employment has eroded over the years, it has become more of a challenge to manage employees. What if the employee is a bully or otherwise toxic (high-performing, low congeniality)? What if the employee is loyal but hasn't grown in the job (long-tenured with antiquated skills)? How about employees who have protected status or exercise a protected right? What do you do about supervisors and subordinates who have personality conflicts or generational differences? This session will provide tips on how to effectively manage challenging employee situations. 

Denise Portnoy with SpencerFane will be presenting our April program: Effectively Managing the Toxic, Protected & High Maintenance Employees. Denise prevents and solves workplace problems for company owners, managers and human resource professionals. She focuses on managementside labor relations and proceedings before state and federal agencies. Under the National Labor Relations Act and Railway Labor Act. Denise defends employers against unions in representation elections, unfair labor practice charges, and grievances before the NLRB, National Mediation Board, National Railroad Adjustment Board, and the Federal Judiciary, as well as in arbitration proceedings. 

This monthly program will be at The Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri located at 2101 Vandiver Dr., Columbia, MO 65202. Parking is available anywhere in their lot. Please use the East entrance on the East side of the building on the lower level (not the one by the orange spoon).
