If you are a full or part-time Human Resources professional, we encourage you to complete the application form to be considered for membership.  Simply click on the membership level that best represents you below.  We look forward to meeting you!

Membership is available to those persons working in Human Resource functions.  Human Resources functions are defined as: Compensation, Benefits, Labor Relations, Employment, Health, Safety and Security, Training and Development, or Personnel Research.


MEMBERSHIP TYPES

Professional

  • People actively engaged in the practice of at least one human resources function listed above;
  • Possess at least three (3) years of professional experience in human resource work or faculty members holding assistant, associate, or full professorial rank in human resources management or any of its specialized phases in an accredited college or university and who possess three years of responsible experience at this level of teaching or the equivalent thereof.  
  • Professional members may vote, serve on committees and hold office.

 Associate

  •  People who perform at least 50% of their job duties in at least one human resources functions listed above. 
  • Associate members may vote and serve on committees and hold office.

 Student 

  • People currently enrolled as a degree-seeking student in a four-year or graduate level Human Resources related degree program and/or are members of a student chapter affiliated with SHRM. 
  • Student members are not eligible to vote or hold office, but may serve on committees.

 Affiliate

  •  People who do not meet the criteria for other membership classes, but provide unique expertise, credentials, and experiences that are determined to be beneficial to human resource professionals and the mission of the Chapter. 
  • Affiliate members are not eligible to vote or hold office, but may serve on committees


Because membership is specific to the individual's professional experience, transfer of memberships is not permitted.


CHAPTER HONORARY LIFE MEMBERSHIP

Limited to people whose membership is in good standing at the time of his or her retirement from active work in the field of human resources. Honorary Life membership shall be contingent on a majority vote of the Executive Board. An Honorary Life member shall pay no dues and have no vote in affairs of the Chapter.

MEMBERS IN TRANSITION

A Professional, Associate, Chapter Honorary Life, Student or Affiliate Member who has left a position and is looking for a new Human Resource position or managing care of a family member and may maintain membership in the Chapter up to one year.  The Member in Transition is only eligible to vote or hold office depending upon what membership status they had prior to going into this classification. 

LAPSED MEMBERSHIP

A Professional, Associate, Student or Affiliate Member who has allowed their active membership to lapse less than 12 months may pay their dues and return to their previous status.  Lapsed members are not eligible to vote, hold office or serve on any committee.  If members lapses longer than 12 months, the person must reapply as a “new” member.
