Cheerleading from Quicksand: Practical Burnout Solutions for HR Leaders

In this high-energy virtual session, HR professionals will learn practical, ready-to-use tools to identify and reduce burnout in themselves and their teams. Using Lyndi Zavy’s Cheerleading from Quicksand framework, participants will explore the three components of burnout (Drain, Disconnect, and Doubt) and the antidotes of Authenticity, Boundaries, and Counterbalance. After a brief overview, the session shifts into hands-on application: micro-scripts for boundary setting, quick burnout check-ins, counterbalance tools, and templates that can be immediately implemented with teams. Attendees leave with actionable resources to support well-being and prevent burnout across their organization.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Recognize signs of burnout using the Drain/Disconnect/Doubt model.
  • Apply practical communication tools and boundary scripts to reduce overwhelm and increase clarity.
  • Facilitate team-based burnout check-ins using templates designed for HR leaders.
  • Implement quick counterbalance strategies to support sustained well-being.
  • Equip employees and managers with tools to strengthen resilience and prevent burnout long-term
