Civility at Work: Building Diverse Thought creates a welcoming space to explore how information, media,
and personal influences shape the way we think, communicate, and engage with others.
Through guided discussion and reflection, participants will examine who informs and influences their perspectives, recognize how daily information intake impacts mindset more than we often realize, and learn practical strategies for diversifying their information sources. The workshop will also focus on building skills to ask engaging, genuine questions that foster curiosity, empathy, and productive dialogue across differences.
Participants will:

Ricky Magoncia is an HR Generalist with the University of Missouri, bringing a practical, people-centered approach to workplace conversations and engagement. In his role, Ricky regularly partners with employees and leaders to navigate policies, benefits, and complex situations, helping translate organizational concepts into clear, approachable expectations.
Through his work, Ricky has developed a strong appreciation for the role that effective communication, mutual respect, and diverse perspectives play in fostering a healthy workplace culture. He is passionate about creating spaces where individuals feel heard, supported, and equipped to engage thoughtfully with one another—especially when viewpoints differ.
